Devon Brooks

“Purpose Over Position has been huge for me in how I approach the game of football, but more importantly life. I have gone through a lot of adversity in sports. I will always be thankful for Vad teaching me hard work even when my future looks stormy, to keep being positive and staying ready for my opportunity. I look to Vad not just as a mentor, but as a big brother.”

Vad and I talk on a weekly basis, I appreciate Vad for given others the mental aspect post play. I appreciate Vad for helping me to overcome the mental barriers of an injury and walking me through the transitional stages of the life of an athlete.

I am so grateful for Vad Lee. Before I met him, I was starstruck because I was a huge Georgia Tech fan when he was the starting Quarterback. During my High School career was the beginning of how God brought him into my life, and since then Vad has been one of my biggest mentors. After going through a major knee injury and a transfer in college, Vad was consistently there for me. I’ve become a better Christian and individual in all aspects of my life because of the mentorship of Vad Lee.

Before speaking with Vad, I was confused and distraught at what I thought God was trying to tell me. I was ready to give up and field for good, after running since the age of 4 years old. Though I didn’t feel as if I was ready to let it go, that was exactly what I was about to do. But first I needed clarity before making such a huge decision that would possible even put the plans that God has for me in jeopardy. I texted Vad and was able to talk with him that same day about what I was dealing with in hopes of getting some support and advice on the situation. Fortunately, he was able to give me even more than I had expected. After our conversation, he was able to provide me the clarification that I needed to be put in an even better headspace than before the situation had transpired. I’ve continued to do what I love, but with a better mindset of purpose.
